Mamta was born to Ambalappat Mohandas and Ganga in Kannur, Kerala. She traveled to Bangalore after finishing her schooling at Indian School, Bahrain, to pursue her bachelor's degree at Mount Carmel College. She went on to do modeling and acting after that.
Mamta Mohandas is an Indian actress and playback singer who is best known for her work in Malayalam films. She made her feature film debut in Mayookham, a love drama released in 2005, and has subsequently starred in other Malayalam films as well as a few Telugu and Tamil films. Big B (2007), Yamadonga (2007), Passenger (2009), Kadha Thudarunnu (2010), Anwar (2010), Arike (2012), Celluloid (2013), and Two Countries are some of Mamta's best-known works (2015). Mamta won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actress and the Filmfare Award (South) for Best Actress for her work in the 2010 drama film Kadha Thudarunnu. She has also received a Filmfare Award (South) for Best Female Playback Singer - Telugu for her performance in the 2006 film Rakhi.
